John J. Carhart of Spring street died Tuesday morning in Monmouth Memorial Hospital following an operation. He was 49 years old.
Mr. Carhart was born in New York city. Before moving to Red Bank, he had been a resident of Long Branch. For many years he was a salesman for the Jersey Central Power and Light company.
Active in fraternal circles, Mr. Carhart was a past master of Mystic brotherhood lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, and was a member of Hiram chapter, Royal Arch Masons, and Field council, Royal and Select Masons. He was also a member of the Red Bank Methodist church.
Surviving, besides his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Twiford Carhart, are a daughter, Miss Audrey Carhart; a son, Calvin Carhart; his step-mother, Mrs. Mary Carhart, and two step-brothers, William and Harold Carhart, of Monmouth Beach.
The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Mount Memorial home on West Front street with Rev. Kenneth R. Perinchief, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. The Mystic brotherhood of Masons will also hold a service. Burial will be in Fair View cemetery.

The funeral of John J. Carhart of Spring street, who died Tuesday of last week in Monmouth Memorial hospital, was held Tuesday afternoon at the Mount Memorial home on West Front street with Rev. Kenneth R. Perlnchlef, pastor of the Methodist church, which Mr, Carhart served as a member of the official board, officiating.
Mystic Brotherhood lodge of Mason conducted services with Past Master Joseph Turklington and Chaplain David Bennett In charge. Six members of the lodge, Thomas P, Doremus, Leon McKey, Alexander D. Cooper, Charles Kelly, Ralph Pearce and Joseph Stec, were bearers. Burial was in Fair View cemetery.
A delegation of employee of the Jersey Central power and light company, by which Mr. Carhart was employed, headed by T. D. Moore, manager of the Red Bank office, attended the services.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Mount Memorial Home, 135 West Front Street, Red Bank. Rev. Kenneth R. Perinchief, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate.
Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery with the Masonic Rites in the change of the Mystic Brotherhood Lodge.
Friends may call at the Mount Memorial Home tomorrow evening from seven until nine.
