Although Celle is not a place I would find my ancestors, it is one of the most beautiful cities I have visited. Just north of Hannover, it is amazing that it was not damaged by bombing during the Wars.
Just outside Celle is a concentration camp where Anne Frank died. There supposedly is a monument, but we did not see it on the way from Hannover.
The Celle Lutheran Church is the most ornate Church I have entered. The Church is called Stadtkirche Sankt Marien. As with many churches in Germany, this church was originally the Catholic church of St. Mary and was transformed into a Lutheran church when Duke Ernest the Confessor introduced the reformation in his duchy.

Celle has a beautiful castle.
And beautiful old buildings.
