Ira Carhart
Ira Carhart of Hazlet passed away at the Ann May Hospital, Spring Lake, Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1930, aged 64 years and 11 months. Mr. Carhart was born in Hazlet on December 26, 1865 and was the son of the late Edwin and Mrs. Sarah Wade Carhart.
Mr. Carhart retired from farming a few years ago and has been living a retired life. He was active in politics, being a member of the Republican Executive Committee for many years. He also served as township committeeman for Raritan township for several terms. Mr. Carhart was also active in grange work for many years and was a member of Freilinghuysen Council, Jr. O. U. A. M., Bayside Lodge, I. O. O. F. and St. John's M. E. Church.
Mr. Carhart is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Laura Peseux and Mrs. Edna Rathbone, and two sons, Hudson and Stacey Carhart, and two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Warren and Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson, and nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon from his late residence at 2 o'clock and from St. John's M. E. Church at 2:30, Rev. J. J. Messler, officiating and interment will be in Green Grove cemetery.
