Former Hazlet Man Succumbs
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the Bedle Funeral Home, Keyport, for Hudson D. Carhart, 69, of 111 Olive St., Neptune, formerly of Hazlet, who died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 1961, in Riverview Hospital after a short illness. The Rev. Norman Riley, pastor of St. John's Methodist Church, Hazlet, officiated and interment was in Cedarwood Cemetery, Raritan Township.
Mr. Carhart was born in Hazlet, son of the late Ira and Phoebe (Duryea) Carhart and had lived in Hazlet until he moved to Neptune last year. He was a retired civil service employee of Marlboro State Hospital. He was a member of St. John's Church and of the Men's Club of the church. He also was a member of Junior Order of United American Mechanics, Keyport, and an exempt member of Hazlet Fire Co., No. 1.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary L. (Foster) Carhart; a daughter, Mrs. George Tibbetts, Hazlet; a son, Hudson D. Carhart jr., Keyport; a sister, Mrs. Thomas Rathbone, and a brother Stacy Carhart sr., both of Hazlet, and four grandchildren.
Mary died at the age of 82 on 6 jan 1977 in Holmdel, Monmouth, New Jersey, United States. She was buried in Cedarwood Cemetery, Keyport, Monmouth, New Jersey, United States. Mary's obituary was published 7 Jan 1977 in The Daily Register (page 4), Red Bank, Monmouth, New Jersey, United States:

KEYPORT -- Mrs. Mary (Mae) Carhart, 81, of 500 Broad St. died yesterday in the Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel.
Mrs. Carhart was born in New York City and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a sales clerk with Newberry's department store, here. Her husband, the late Hudson D. Carhart, died in 1969.
Surviving are a son, Hudson Carhart, here; a daughter, Mrs. Elinor Tibbets of Hazlet; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
