Mrs. Catherine D. Carhart, wife of Edmund A. Carhart, died at the home of her son, Taylor Carhart, in Holmdel township, on Saturday, April 18th. Her death was due to heart failure, caused by shock. Her husband had been stricken with paralysis, and fell to the floor. Mrs. Carhart hurried to his assistance, but as so overcome that she became hysterical. She went out of the house to the yard and fell face downward on the ground. She rose to a sitting posture but before she could get to her feet she fell over dead. She was 63 years old.

Edmund A. Carhart died at the home of his son Taylor H. Carhart, near Hazlet, on Tuesday of last week, aged 78 years 8 months.
Mr. Carhart had been a great sufferer from a cancer, and was also paralyzed, being unable to speak and confined to his bed for many months.
He had lived in the vicinity of Hazlet all his lifetime and had always been engaged in farming.
He leaves two children - Taylor H., and Miss Leila Carhart.
The funeral was held at his late home Thursday afternoon and interment was in the Holmdel Cemetery.

Edmund A. Carhart died on Tuesday of last week at the home of his son, Taylor H. Carhart of Hazlet. He was afflicted with cancer and was also paralyzed. For several months he had been unable to speak. He was 78 years old and had lived in the vicinity of Hazlet all his life, where he was engaged in farming. He married Catherine Hoff, daughter of Taylor Hoff. She died several years ago. Besides the son at whose home he died he leaves a daughter, Miss Leila Carhart.
