Scribner Man Stricken at Son's Home This Morning
SCRIBNER, Oct. 20--Julius Kottman, 80, long-time resident of Dodge county, died at the farm home of his son northeast of Scribner this morning after an illness of two months.
Born in Germany May 19, 1857, Kottman came to America in 1889 and settled at Scribner. On his arrival he farmed near Scribner and in 1900 moved to the farm where he died. He was married in March 1890, to Marie Strussman of Scribner.
Surviving are his wife: one son, George, and one daughter, Mrs. Herman Meyer, all of Scribner. Six grandchildren also survive.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed, but services probably will be held Saturday at the St. John's Lutheran church north of Scribner.

KOTTMAN SERVICE HELD AT SCRIBNER
SCRIBNER, Oct. 25 -- Funeral services for Julius Kottman were held Saturday afternoon at the St. John's Lutheran church near Scribner. Short services were held at the home at 1 o'clock and at the church at 1:30. Rev. E. Wendt officiated at the services while burial was made in the church cemetery under the direction of E. J. Spear and son, morticians of Scribner.
Mr. Kottman died Wednesday morning at the farm home of his son, George, following an illness of several months. He was 80 years of age. Born in Germany on May 19, 1857 he emigrated to the United States in April of 1889. He came to Scribner and on March 1, 1890 he was married to Marie Struss. The young couple farmed several places west of Scribner before purchasing the farm northeast of town where he had since made his home. He is survived by his wife, one son, George; one daughter, Mrs. Herman Meyer, all of Scribner and six grandchildren.
Paulbearers were: Dick Hedemann, Ward Maynard, Fred Arndt, William Tekildsen, William Paasch, and Otto Pribnow.
Out-of-town friends at the funeral were: Mrs. and Mrs. Ferdinand Rurode of Ewing, Mr. and Mrs. Max Gerhardt and Herman Hensel, all of West Point.
