Herman and Maria immigrated to America in 1890. They sailed on the ship "America" from Bremen, Germany and arrived 27 Nov 1890 in the port of Baltimore, Maryland.
Herman and Mary had the following children:

Herman Oldigs
Herman Oldigs, a well known and prominent resident of Colfax county, passed away last week at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Wopken of Scribner. Mr. Oldigs had been in ill health for the past two years and was confined to his bed the two months previous to his death. He had made his home with his daughter since last October.
Services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of his son, John Oldigs, two miles south of Leigh, after which services were held at the Lutheran church seven miles southwest of Leigh. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Schroeder. Interment was made in the church cemetery which rest the remains of the wife who died ninteen years ago.
Mr. Oldigs was born in Oldenburg, Germany, on November 19, 1849. He was united in marriage to Miss Maria Schroeder on February 14, 1873. Mr. and Mrs. Oldigs and their family came to America 37 years ago to make this country their home. Upon their arrival here, they settled on a farm near Omaha where they resided three years before moving to their farm near Leigh, which has since been their family home.
Mr. Oldigs is survived by four sons and six daughters. They are Henry, John and Herman, residing on farms near Leigh; William who is attending the state university at Madison, Wis.; Mrs. Isaac Brock, Columbus; Mrs. Fred Wopken, Scribner; Mrs. George Hellbusch, of Belgrade and Mrs. Louie Nuetzman of Newman Grove.
The deceased is also survived by 39 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mr. Oldigs was a resident of Colfax county for the past 34 years. He was 78 years of age.
