Bishop E. Carhart, 87, who made his home with his son, Stanley M. Carhart, 94 East Roosevelt Circle here, died yesterday (16 MAY 1956) at the Ivy House nursing home, Middletown, after a long illness. Mr. Carhart was born in Keyport and had lived there most of his life. He operated his own fishing business for many years and later was employed by the West Furniture company In Keyport, retiring about 15years ago. Mr. Carhart was a member of the Keyport Baptist church and for more than 60 years was a member of the Keyport lodge of Odd Fellows. Surviving, besides Stanley M. Carhart, who is a teacher at Red Bank high school, are his wife, Mary E. Carhart; another son, Kelsey A. Carhart, Keyport; four grandchildren and a great-grandson. The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. at the Bedle funeral home with Rev. Joseph R. Faith, pastor of the Keyport Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be in Green Grove cemetery, Keyport.

Services Held For Mrs. Bishop Carhart
Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Bedle Funeral Home, Keyport, for Mrs. Mary E. (Hickey) Carhart, 85, of 94 East Roosevelt Circle, Red Bank, who died Wednesday, Mar. 9, 1960, at the Ivy Nursing Home, Middletown. The Rev. Maurice Phillips, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Keyport, officiated and interment was in the family plot in Green Grove Cemetery, Keyport.
Mrs. Carhart was the widow of Bishop Carhart. She had spent most of her life in Keyport, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. In 1944 Mrs. and Mrs. Carhart went to Albuquerque, N. M., where they made their home for about seven years with their daughter, the late Mrs. Martha (Carhart) Hopkins. They returned to this area in 1951 and Mr. Carhart died in 1957.
Surviving are two sons, Stanley M. Carhart, Red Bank, with whom Mrs. Carhart resided, and Kelsey A. Carhart, Keyport; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Trainor, Jersey City; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
