Elizabeth "Betty" Carhart Irwin passed away Friday, October 30, 2009. Betty was born in Albany and lived all her life in the Ravena Coeymans area. She worked as a bus driver for Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk School and Hillside House, transporting handicapped children. Betty was a life member of the Coeymans Hollow Fire Co. Auxiliary.
Betty was predeceased by her husband David Irwin. Survivors include her son, Russell (Louise) Irwin; daughter, Tammy (Keith) Krzykowski; grandchildren, Jeremy and Jeffery Irwin, Christina (Joel) Bathrick, Amanda (Mark) Demitraszek, Davin Kryzkowski and DeEtte (Cliff) Hirsch; great-grand-children, Zarah and Zachary Bathrick, Kaylie and Mark Demitraszek, Amber Hirsch, David Kusisto and Jayden Irwin; and sisters, Rita Perrine and Ruth Ivester. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Ray and Mina Seaburgh Carhart; her son, David R. Irwin; brothers, Edward, Kenneth and Raymond Carhart; and sister, Jean Whitehouse.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 2 at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, South Bethlehem. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, 3-6 p.m. Contributions in memory of Betty may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
