Richard G. Taylor
Richard G. Taylor of Keyport died suddenly on Sunday of last week. He had been in poor health for several years, but the direct cause of death was acute neuralgia of the heart, with which he was attacked a few minutes before he died. Mr. Taylor was 77 years old. He was born at Staten Island. He moved to Keyport 55 years ago and since that time had been engaged in the oyster business. He was twice married, his first wife being the daughter of the late Isaac Walling of Keyport. Mr. Taylor's second wife was Miss Sarah Carhart of Keyport and she survives him. He had been a member of Calvary Methodist church for 45 years.
Capt. Taylor's death leaves but six surviving oyster planters of those who settled at Keyport over fifty years old. These are E. H. Force, William Maconkey, Benjamin Decker, Sr., Frederick Hammer, Asher Collins and Richard West. Only Mr. Maconkey and Mr. Hammer are now engaged in the oyster business.
Sarah died at the age of 64 on 8 Sep 1901 in Tabor, Morris, New Jersey, United States. She was buried in Green Grove Cemetery, Keyport, Monmouth, New Jersey, United States [Find A Grave Memorial #54643130].

Mrs. Sarah A. Taylor, widow of Richard G. Taylor of Keyport, died on Sunday, September 8th, at Mt. Tabor, in Morris county, where she was spending the summer. Mrs. Taylor complained of a pain in the back of her neck when she arose from bed that morning. Before she finished dressing she was stricken with apoplexy and she died in about two hours. She was 66 years old, and was the daughter of Cornelius Carhart of Keyport. She lived in Keyport all her life until shortly after the death of her husband three years ago, when she moved to Freehold. She had been a member of the Keyport Methodist church for 52 years. Two sisters survive her, Mrs. Thomas Walling of Keyport and Mrs. Benjamin Taylor of Middletown.
