Wife of Stephen E. Carhart Died of Complication of Diseases.
Mrs. Harriet C. Carhart, wife of Stephen E. Carhart of Port Monmouth, died Friday from a complication of diseases. She was 69 years old and leaves four daughters and a son. The children are Mrs. Deborah Carhart and Mrs. Daniel Bennett of Belford, Mrs. Lydia Heyers, Mrs. Ella Bade and Sylvanus Carhart of Port Monmouth. She also leaves two sisters and one brother. The sisters are Mrs. Deborah Ludlow of Port Monmouth and Mrs. E. J. Lisk of Asbury Park. George Halsey of Brooklyn is the brother. Mrs. Carhart was the daughter of Jacob Halsey of Harmony. She moved to Port Monmouth 22 years ago.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Belford Methodist church and the body was buried in the Keyport cemetery. Rev. W. A. Cobb had charge of the funeral services. The bearers were Isadore and Charles Walling, J. VanSchoick, John Bennett, Frank Viering and Henry DeGrote.

Mrs. Harriet C. Carhart of Port Monmouth bequeathed a house and two lots at that place to her husband, Stephen Carhart, in a will which was executed in 1902. She also left all her personal property to her husband.

Arthur Carhart of Keansburg Dropped Dead and Stephen E. Carhart of Port Monmouth Died of Consumption - Latter a Veteran.
Arthur Carhart of Keansburg dropped dead Saturday morning and his brother, Stephen E. Carhart of Port Monmouth, died Monday morning. Arthur Carhart leaves a wife and a son, Clyde Carhart. The funeral was held Monday at the house and the burial was at Keyport.
Stephen Carhart was 81 years old. Consumption, complicated with other ailments, was the cause of his death. He had been in poor health since April. He was born at Keyport and was a veteran of the civil war, he being a member of Company G of the 53d New York regiment. He was a member of Arrowsmith post and of the Belford Methodist church. For many years he was a pilot on a ferry boat, but for the past six years he had led a retired life.
Mr. Carhart leaves five children, Sylvanus Carhart and Mrs. Daniel Bennett of Belford, Mrs. J. N. Bade and Mrs. Lida Hyers of Port Monmouth, and Mrs. Joseph Carter of Red Bank. Mr. Carhart also leaves six brothers and two sisters. They are Rev. William Carhart of Hazlet, Henry Carhart, Mrs. Russell Voorhees and Mrs. Lorenzo Havens of Keyport, Edward, Reuben and Burnett Carhart of Riverton and Elmer Carhart of Keansburg. Mr. Carhart's wife, who was Miss Harriet Halsey of Keyport, died six years ago.
The funeral was hel this afternoon at the Belford Methodist church. Rev. Elijah Reid and Rev. C. S. C. Fees conducted the service. The burial was at Keyport.
