Died - Monday, March 7, 1904, Gerhard Albers, aged 58 years 1 month and 22 days.
Mr. Albers was born in Kirchhatten, Oldenburg, Germany, Jan. 13, 1864. He remained with his parents until he was twenty-three years of age, when he emigrated to America. He came directly to Dodge County and settled on a farm near Hooper. In 1879 he married Sophia Meyer and in 1896 moved into Scribner where he resided up to the time of his death. His wife and adopted daughter, who is also his neice, survive him. The funeral held yesterday by Rev. F. L. Treskow at the St. Peters church and the body was interred in the family lot in the Church yard near Rev. Bergts church. Only a short time ago, Febr. 14, Mr. and Mrs. Albers celebrated the silver anniversary of their marriage.
Mrs. Sophie Albers Dies at Age of 102
Sophie Meyer was born Sept. 10, 1855 at Oldenburg, Germany. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She came to this country in 1875 and settled in the Hooper vicinity.
In 1877, Sophie was married to Gerhard Albers. They celebrated their silver wedding anniversary in Feb., 1904. Mr. Albers passed away in March that same year.
Mrs. Albers has lived at the Lutheran Old Peoples Home in Omaha since 1938. She had reached the age of 102 years.
The deceased is survived by a foster daughter, Mrs. Rose Marsh of Des Moines, Ia., several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:30 at the Spear Funeral Home and 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with Rev. O. W. Wehrmann officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, east of Scribner.
Mrs. Albers was a charter member of St. Peter's Ladies Aid. The entire group will attend the funeral services.
