Diedrich Tonjes was born April 5, 1840 in Moorhausen, Oldenburg, Germany. He came to America in May 1866, first locating in Illinois where he remained two years; then to Nebraska. After a short stay in Omaha he came to Dodge county and has made his home near this place on a farm until about two years ago when he moved into Scribner. He was married Oct. 7, 1860 to Miss Margret Meyer. Four children were born to them; two boys and two girls, all surviving.
