William Frederick Malchow of West Front street died suddenly Monday morning. He had been suffering from a carbuncle under his heart and this was the cause of his death. He was 61 years old. Mr. Malchow was married twice. His first wife was Miss Lida Gordon. He leaves one daughter and one son by his first wife. They are Mrs. Luther Atkins of Red Bank and William Malchow of Oaks, North Carolina. He also leaves a widow and one daughter, Miss Grace Malchow, who lives at home, and two brothers, Rudolph Malchow of Red Bank and Frank Malchow of Long Branch.
Mr. Malchow had been sick about three weeks and it was thought he was improving. Monday morning he was taken with a violent fit of coughing. Mrs. Malchow ran for Dr. Edwin Field but her husband was dead before the doctor arrived.
Mr. Malchow was born in Germany and came to this country when he was fifteen years old. He was an active member of Red Bank branch of the Socialist party and was the party's candidate for surrogate this fall. The Red Bank Socialist library was located in his barber shop. Mr. Malchow formerly owned in interest in a grocery store but had been in the barber business the past several years.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at one o'clock at the house and half-past one at Trinity church. The body will be buried in Fair View cemetery. Rev. Robert MacKellar will have charge of the funeral service.
