The following biography was published 8 Mar 1900 in the Hooper Sentinel, Hooper, Dodge, Nebraska:
The First Settlers A Little Biography and History of Some of the Early Pioneers.
(Paper No. 2) The experience of Mr. Munderloh and family were very similar to that of the Monnich's. Mr. Munderloh's family at this time consisted of a wife who was a sister of Mr. Monnich, and two daughters, now Mesdames Herman Bohling and Wm. Hilgencamp. They settled near Monnich's on what the government survey afterwards called the S. E. 1/4, section 12, township 1, range 19. In 1858 Mrs. Munderloh died and in 1860 Mr. Munderloh married Mary Stork. George, Henry, Louisa, Lena and Amelia all now living were the children left when she died in 1880. Mr. Munderloh died in 1869. Of this family George now lives near Beemer, Henry and Louisa, now Mrs. C. H. Milverstedt, are residents of Hooper, Lena married Henry Klempke, and lives in Scribner and Amelia resides in Fremont, the wife of Mr. Kasebaum.
Mr. Munderloh was born in Germany in 1820 and with his family came to the United States in 1854. He always believed this was destined to be a great country, but his death, eleven years after coming here gave him but little opportunity to see the fulfillment of his predictions. After his death the widow assisted by the family carried on farming operations with the same success as did her husband. Of course they in common with others saw hard times, but by the exercise of economy and much work they weathered the floods and blizzards, drouths, hot winds and grasshoppers firmly believing that deliverance would come sooner or later, and who can deny that their faith has not been rewarded while the transformation of the country has been great indeed.
