John Moseman, a prominent farmer and stockman living five miles north of Hooper, passed away March 7, 1919, at 11:30 a.m., cause of death being kidney trouble and cancer of the backbone, from which he had been a sufferer since last September. On January 13 he was taken to Mayo Bros. hospital at Rochester, Minn., where he remained until March 3, when physicians declared his case hopeless and he returned to the home where his death occurred.
Mr. Moseman was born in Oldenburg, Germany, May 18, 1865, being 53 years, 9 months and 19 days old at the time of his death. He came to this country alone at the age of fifteen years, coming to Nebraska from New York about six months after his arrival. He rented a farm near West Point, remaining there until 1900 when he moved to the Gerhard Monnich farm where his last days were spent.
On March 15, 1892 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Rudebusch at Hooper, his wife preceding him in death about eight years ago. They were the parents of nine children, eight of whom survive to mourn the death of a beloved father. They are Mrs. George Nieman, Mrs. Henry Eisen and John Moseman, jr., of Sidney, and Emma, Regina, Herman, Willie and Adolph at home. All were present at the burial of their father, as was also his brother, Henry, of S. Dak. Two sisters and one brother remain in Germany.
Funeral services were held at one o'clock Monday afternoon, Rev. H. C. Jul Frese of St. John's Lutheran church being in charge. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
The many sincere friends and neighbors of the deceased man will mourn with the bereaved family in their great and irreparable loss.
