Funeral services for William Meyer, 87, were held at Grace Lutheran church Monday afternoon. Mr. Meyer died Friday morning at his home.
Rev. E. J. Bernthal officiated. Robert B. Meyer, accompanied by Charles Messerschmidt, jr., sang "Jerusalem, Thou City Fair and High" and "Abide With Me."
Pallbearers were Arnold Victor, Bill Suehl, Ferris Meyer, Kenneth Victor, Myron Meyer and Delbert Jensen. Burial was in the Greenwood cemetery.
William August Meyer, son of William and Anna Meyer, was born Oct. 20, 1869 at Stadensen, Germany. At the age of 12 he came with his parents to America, settling in Washington county, near Hooper. Mar. 18, 1883 he was confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Hooper.
The following year he came to Dixon county and affiliated there with Immanuel Lutheran church northwest of Wakefield, where he was an active member for more than 60 years.
Feb. 25, 1892 he married Dorothea Roeber. Upon his retirement from farming he moved to Wayne in September, 1930. In 1946 he transferred his church membership to Grace Lutheran.
Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. William Victor, Wakefield, and Mrs. Ernest Grone, Wayne; four sons, William H., Arthur, Louis H. and Martin, Wakefield; a brother, Fred W. Meyer, Wayne; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
There was no administration of William's estate, as all his real and personal property was owned individually or in joint tenancy with right of survivor-ship with his wife, Dora Meyer. On file is the Petition for Determination of Inheritance Taxes in Absence of Probate. Listed in this document is all real estate owned at the time of his death.
Dora died at the age of 93 on 22 Feb 1965 in Wayne, Wayne, Nebraska, United States. She was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Wayne, Wayne, Nebraska, United States.
