It is approaching 3 years since the death of my 2nd cousin, Kim Carhart Hargens Hepburn. I was a Senior in High School when she was finishing up her English Degree at Wayne State College. She was in the "teaching program" which was what Wayne State was all about at that time - preparing teachers. Kim was doing her student teaching, now probably called an internship, with my Senior English Class. Here is the message she left for us. This message is still good today!

I stumbled across you site last evening as I was doing research on my own family tree. I really enjoy your site. Almost 40 years ago, I began my own genealogy journey, but put it away until recently. I was born and raised in West Point, NE, but have lived in the St Louis area since 1975. One of my family tree branches involves the Schellenbergs, who landed on a farm somewhere near Scribner in Cuming Township. They were members of St Paul's Lutheran Church, Hooper, NE. Kasper Schellenberg, his wife, and three or four sons immigrated to the US in 1873. His wife died somewhere en route. Up until a few months ago, I didn't know her name or any information about her, including the date of death and where she died. Sometimes the internet can be a wonderful thing. I was fortunate to discover the research done by another person, who provided her name and indicated that her name is listed in the death register of St Paul's Lutheran Church. Now, the reason why I am telling you all this is because of the following. I was able to review the death registry at St Paul's on Aug 2 of this year. I didn't spend a lot of time looking at the information because there were other documents to search there as well. I did take a photo of the page, however. So now, I'm scrutinizing the photo. Even though her name is listed in the death registry, there is no grave marker for Dorothea Elizabetha Letischal Schellenberg in the cemetery. Above her date of death in the registry is the word Logan. I think this might refer to Logan Cemetery, a few miles away. The second person listed in the registry, whose last name I can't yet decipher, has the word Fontanelle above their date of death. That might refer to Fontanelle Lutheran Cemetery. The third person listed is Bernhard Friedrich Schole, the 1 year-old child of Bernhard and Maria Schole. These are people listed in your immigrants of Hooper page. Above his date of death is the word Logan again. When I looked at the list of names buried in Logan Cemetery, I did not find either Doroathea Schellenberg or Bernhard F Schole. As you walk up to St Paul's Cemetery, there is a board which has an index of those buried in the cemetery and the plot number. I see Bernhard Friedrich Schole and Bernhard Schole, both buried in plot 6. There are four other Scholes buried in plot 6. On your site, you have photos of the grave markers of Berhnard and Maria Schole. If you were the one who took those photos, do you remember seeing the grave marker of Bernhard Friedrich Schole, the 1 year-old?

To Susan Smith: By now you may have your answers, but if not, please look at the memorial records at findagrave.com. The Schellenberg and Schole burials are in St Paul's Cemetery in Hooper. Specifically, yes, there is a grave marker for the 1yo Bernhard F Schole.
