Meribah's estate probate was on 11 May 1886 in New York County Surrogate Court, New York, United States:
Be it Remembered that heretofore to wit on the eleventh day of May in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty six Abram M. Hyatt designated as an executor in the last Will and Testament of Meribah H. Carhart late of the County of New York deceased appeared in open court before Daniel G. Rollins surrogate of the County of New York and made application to have said last Will and Testament and Codicil which relate to both real and personal property proved. And on such application to the surrogate did ascertain by satisfactory indinil that said deceased died on the twenty second day of October in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty five leaving her surviving Helen Carhart, Meribah Carhart, Leila M. Carhart and Carrie C. Carhart, all residing in the City of New York and being daughters of the said deceased and her only heirs and next of kin.
And said only heirs died next of kin who were all of full age duly waived the issuance and service of a citation and cousented that said will be admitted to probate forthwith. Whereupon no opposition having been made to the probate of said will such proceedings were thereupon had afterwards that said surrogate took the proof of said last Will and Testament and Codicil as herinafter set forth and upon this eighteenth day of May in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty six he adjudged said will and codicil to be a valid will of both real and personal property and the proof thereof to be sufficient, which said last Will and Testament and Codicil and proofs and made admitting to the same to probate are as follows to wit.
In the Name of God. Amen! I, Meribah H. Carhart at present residing in the City of New York in the County and State of New York being of sound mind and memory do make publish and declare this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following:
First, I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be first paid out of my estate. Second, I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Helen the Crayon Portraits of my husband and myself. Third, all the rest residue and remainder of my estate whether real personal or mixed, I give devise and bequeath to my daughters Helen, Meribah, Leila M. and Carrie C. share and share alike to take the same absolutely. Lastly, I nominate constitute and appoint my daughter Helen as Executrix and my nephew Abram M. Hyatt as Executor of this my Last Will and Testament, and I revoke all other and former wills by me at any time made. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirtieth day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and eighty five.

The citation herein having been duly waived the allegation of the parties appearing having been heard and the proof having been duly taken by the surrogate as to the execution of said together with a codicil thereto bearing date respectively June 31st 1886 and Oct 14th 1885 and the probate of the said Will not having been contested and it appearing to the Surrogate that the Will was duly executed and that the testatrix at the time or executing it was in all respects competent to make a will and not under restraint.
This ordered adjudged and decreed that the instrument offered for probate herein for and the same herein is admitted to probate as the Last Will and Testament of the said deceased valid to pass real and personnel property and the the Letters Testamentary for issued thereon to the Executors who may qualify the thereunder.
