Carhart, Former Syracusan, Dead
Word has been received here of the death of George Cook Carhart, 71, retired engineer and former resident of Syracuse, who died Monday at his home in San Gabriel, California.
Mr. Carhart was a native of Collamer and a graduate of Syracuse University College of Applied Science, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation he was employed here as an engineer for the H. H. Franklin Mfg. Co., Brown-Lipe-Chapin Co., and General Motors, which sent him for two years to its Opal plant in Weisbaden, Germany.
He was a member of the Elmwood Presbyterian Church and served on the building committee when the building was erected.
He moved to San Gabriel after his retirement, where he acted as a consulting engineer.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eveline Grensted Carhart of San Gabriel; two brothers, Elmer of Collamer and Raymond Carhart of Syracuse; two sisters, Mrs. George A. (Orletta) Brunson of Northfield, Mass., and Miss Angie Carhart of Waterloo; a son, Warren H. Carhart of Downey, California, and a grand-daughter, Felicia Carhart.
Funeral services and burial will be conducted in California. Friends are requested to omit flowers.
Eveline died at the age of 90 on 3 Sep 1973 in Los Angeles County, California, United States. She was buried in San Gabriel Cemetery, San Gabriel, Los Angeles, California, United States.
