BEACON - Russell R. Carhart, 65, of 29 Dinan St., died Monday at Vassar Hospital.
He was born in North Tarrytown, Feb. 5, 1910, the son of Frank Terry and Margaret M. (Fruhauf) Carhart. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. An area resident most of his life, Mr. Carhart recently retired as a carpenter and sheet metal worker for the Penn Central Railroad n Harmon. He was a past commander of the William B. Wilson Post No. 66, VFW, Beacon, a member of American Legion Post No. 37, Poughkeepsie, and the Pirate Canoe Club, Poughkeepsie, and an honorary member of the St. Rocco Society, Beacon.
In addition to his wife, the former Hazel Lind, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Vitek, Hopewell Junction; two brothers, Warren E., Beacon, and Frank T., Fishkill; a sister, Miss Isabelle N. Carhart, Beacon, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Hignell Funeral Home, 10 Willow St., Beacon. The Rev. Jon M. Lindenauer will officiate. Burial will be in Fishkill Rural Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

BEACON - Mrs. Hazel Lind Carhart, 66, of 29 Dinan St., died Wednesday at the Highland Hospital, Beacon.
She was born in Brooklyn, Nov. 6, 1911, the daughter of Leonard and Ida E. (Burglund) Lind. In 1970 she was retired as a clerk for the City of Beacon. She was a graduate of the Spencer Business School, Newburgh. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the American Association of Retired Persons, and the Beacon Senior Social League. On Oct. 24, 1937, she was married to Russell Rea Carhart who predeceased her on Jan. 27, 1976.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Vitek, Hopewell Junction; two brothers, Leonard Lind, Jupiter, N.J., and Stephen Lind, Waldwick, N.J., four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
The funeral will be Friday, 11 a.m., at the Hignell Funeral Home, 10 Willow St., Beacon. The Rev. James H. Edgar will officiate.
Burial will be in the Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
