Pat died 11 Feb 1988 in Amarillo, Potter, Texas, United States. He was buried in Panhandle Cemetery (Section 2, Lot 111, Space 2), Panhandle, Carson, Texas, United States. His obituary appeared on 14 Feb 1988 in the Borger New Herald.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel with Glenn Walton, minister of North Amarillo Church of Christ officiating.
Burial was in Panhandle Cemetery.
Carhart was born April 28, 1906 in Panhandle. He attended Panhandle and Clarendon schools and was a charter member of the first Boy Scout troop formed in this section of the Panhandle by Dr. William Warner of Claude in spring of 1918. The Rev. H.C. Gordon was the scout master.
Carhart was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Panhandle. He was married to Florence in 1957 at Panhandle.
He was a former owner of Carhart Sand and Gravel in Panhandle and carried a rural mail route in southwest Carson County for 32 years. He moved to Amarillo 14 years ago.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Molly Palmer of Amarillo; two sons, Pat Wayne and Richard Carhart, both of Athens; a sister, Gladys Eskew of Amarillo; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
Florence died 4 Jan 2000.
