Mr. and Mrs. Dave Cameron Observe 50th Anniversary
Looking backward along a vista of half a century to their wedding day and looking forward to the future anniversaries, Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Cameron celebrated their "Golden Wedding" Tuesday when their children and grandchildren entertained at "open house" for 100 guests in their country home near Mapleton.
Mr. and Mrs. Cameron, well known and popular residents of this community, were married June 24, 1891, in the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Carhart, on the farm near Mapleton now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Lou Schraeder. Rev. C. Pershell read the ceremony. The attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Jess Castle. Mrs. Castle now resides in Colorado.
Mr. and Mrs. Cameron started housekeeping on the old Cameron homestead near their present farm home. Later they moved to their present home where they have spent many pleasant years. Mr. Cameron, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Cameron, was born here on the Cameron homestead and Mrs. Cameron, the former Miss Dora Carhart, was born in Hamilton county, Ia., coming to this community with her parents at the age of 12.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Cameron were twins and Mrs. Cameron's twin sister, Mrs. Nora Stevens, lives in Hollywood, Cal. His twin is dead.
Mr. and Mrs. Cameron have three children, Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Patrick of Hollywood, Cal., Howard Cameron of Ute and Lawrence Cameron of Mapleton. They have six grandchildren, Mrs. Leo Mack, Hallard Patrick, Gale Patrick, Leonard Patrick and Betty Patrick, all of Hollywood, Cal., and Mrs. Maurice Zedlker of Mapleton. They also have four great grandchildren, Beverly Mack and Michael Hal Patrick of Hollywood and Gary and Keith Zedlker of Mapleton.
The bridal couple of 50 years ago received many gifts, telegrams, congratulatory cards and bouquets of garden flowers. The children gave their parents a dinette suite of maple. In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Cameron received a large bouquet of deep yellow roses sent airmail from Mrs. Patrick and family in Hollywood.
The Press joins the many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Cameron in extending best wishes and sincerely hopes that they will enjoy many more pleasant anniversaries.
David died at the age of 78 on 18 Oct 1949 in Mapleton, Monona, Iowa, United States. Dora died at the age of 84 on 25 Jul 1956 in Mapleton, Monona, Iowa, United States. They were buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Mapleton, Monona, Iowa, United States.

David Cameron Funeral Services Held Friday
Funeral services for David D. Cameron, 78, who died Wednesday at a Sioux City hospital, after an illness of two years, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Methodist church here.
Rev. George Osborn officiated and burial was in Mount Hope cemetery.
Mr. Cameron was born June 11, 1871, in Cooper township in Monona county and was a lifelong resident of this area. He farmed until 1944 when he retired and moved to Mapleton. Mr. Cameron married Dora Carhart June 24, 1891, in Cooper township.
Mr. Cameron was a member of the Masonic Lodge and I. O. O. F. and the Sioux City consistory of the Shrine.
Survivors besides the widow include a daughter, Mrs. Maude Patrick of Van Nuys, Calif., and two sons, Howard of Ute and Lawrence of Mapleton.

DAVID DENNIS CAMERON
David Dennis Cameron passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 1949 at 1 o'clock in the morning of a heart attack, at the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City, at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 7 days.
Services were held in the Methodist church at 2 o'clock Friday, Oct. 21, with Rev. Osborn officiating. The Odd Fellows attended in a body. There were Masonic services at the grave. Interment was in Mt. Hope cemetery.
Pallbearers were George E. Dean, Clem Babbe, Ed Wiese, Earl Porter, Earl Barry and L. B. Wightman.
He was born in Cooper Township on the Cameron homestead, and always lived in Cooper Township until the spring of 1944 when he retired from the farm and moved to Mapleton.
He was trustee of Cooper Township for 12 years and was also school treasurer of Cooper.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Rebeckah Lodges. He also had Masonic membership in the Quarry Lodge No. 404 and in Sioux City Consistory No. 5.
He was the son of Samuel and Sarah Rice Cameron who settled in Cooper Township in 1867.
On June 24, 1891, he was married to Dora Carhart, daughter of James and Addie Carhart in Cooper Township. To them were born, three children, Maud Patrick of Hollywood, Calif., Howard Cameron of Ute and Lawrence Cameron of Danbury. Other survivors are seven grand children, and seven great grandchildren and one brother, Mark Cameron, the only living brother left of the family of nine children.
Relatives attending the funeral services were, Guy and Elsie Williams, nephew of Smithland; Lyle Cameron and family, nephew, Danbury; James Cameron and daughter, nephew of Mapleton; Mark Cameron, brother, of Mapleton; Dorothy Lindley and husband, niece of Danbury, Anna Huling, cousin of Sioux City.
Out-of-town friends attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hodkinson, Mrs. Flora (Priester) Micsenhelder and Mr. and Mrs. Herb Lacey of Sioux City. Mrs. Loretta Williams of Oto; Mr. and Mrs. Jess Culver of Anthon; Mrs. W. R. Baier of Akron; Mrs. Carrie (Dean) Christensen, of Rock Falls, Ill.; and Mae and Jessie Marshall of Charter Oak.

DORA CAMERON
Dora Cameron, daughter of James and Addie Carhart was born Nov. 7, 1871, at Tipton, Iowa. She and her twin sister were the 3rd and 4th oldest in the family of 7 children. When a small girl she moved with her parents to Platteville, Wis. At the age of 8 years she and her family moved to Nevada, Iowa, where they resided until 1884. In 1884 she moved to Monona county where she made her home for the remainder of her life, having lived in the Mapleton vicinity during this time. She lived in town since 1944 where she resided until her death.
Mrs. Cameron died July 25, 1956 at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 18 days. Funeral services were in St. John's Methodist church under the direction of the Byers-Walter funeral home. Rev. Eugene Hancock officiated. Pallbearers were Pete Wightman, Guy Wooster, George Dean, R. W. Sonksen, Leslie Wilson and Herman Albertson. Interment was in Mt. Hope cemetery.
She was married to David Cameron June 24, 1891 in Monona county, Cooper township. This union was blessed with 3 children. Her husband preceded her in death in October 18, 1949.
Mrs. Cameron was a member of St. John's Methodist church, Rebekah lodge No. 212, Past Noble Grand of the Rebekahs, Order of Eastern Star No. 300, H E O club and J. U. W. club, all of Mapleton.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Maude Patrick, North Hollywood, Calif., 2 sons, Howard of Ute and Lawrence of Mapleton, 4 sisters, her twin sister, Mrs. Nora Stephens, Aiken, S. C., Mrs. Sherod Scull, Mesa, Arizona, Elizabeth Carhart, Garden Grove, Calif., and Louise Carhart, Garden Grove, Calif.; 7 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 sisters.
