The Last of "Old Guard" of Coeymans Died on Wednesday
Staats Vanderhuyden the last of a Group of Four Octogenarians who were Familiar Figures on the Streets of Coeymans Eight Years Ago.
[Picture of Hiram Sutton, Anthony Putnam, Staats Vanderhuyden, Daniel Sinsabaugh]
Staats Venderhuyden was stricken with appoplexy on Sunday which terminated fatally on Wednesday morning. He was about eighty eight years of age and was probably the oldest resident of Coeymans village. Mr. Vanderhuyden resided at the home of his son, William on Westerlo street, who is his only survivor. Mr. Vanderhuyden's portrait appears in the the group picture which was taken several years ago by Artist Clough who snapped the quartette of octogenarians as they were holding one of their frequent "home guard" debates on a Westerlo street corner store stoop. The death of the other three had preceded that of Mr. Vanderhuyden.
His funeral will be held from his late home this morning at 10:30.
