MRS. GEORGE W. CARHART DIES WEDNESDAY EVENING
Funeral Services Will Be Held Sunday Afternoon
Mrs. Anna W. Carhart, widow of George W. Carhart, died Wednesday evening at 7:15 o’clock at her home, No. 299 West Center street, of the infirmities of age. She had been an invalid for the past four years. Mrs. Carhart was born in Marion County and had resided here all her life. She was born May 11, 1843, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Merchant. Mr. and Mrs. Carhart were married December 31, 1861. Mrs. Carhart had resided in the home in which she died practically all her married life. Prior to her marriage Mrs. Carhart was a school teacher. She was a life member of the Methodist church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. William Dowling, of Prairie Depot, and Mrs. Edwin Brewer, of this city. One sister, Mrs. Ella Burr of Cardington; two half-brothers, Jacob and Thomas Merchant of this city; five grandchildren, Florence Dowling of Prairie Depot, and Herbert, Roy, and El Rey Brewer of north of the city, and Mrs. Gertrude Harris, of Warren, and nine great-granchildren also surviving. The funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the home. Dr. Jesse Swank, pastor of Epworth M. E. church, will officiate and burial will be made in the Marion cemetery.
