BENJAMIN TAYLOR'S WILL
IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. I, Benjamin Taylor of the Township of Middletown, in the County of Monmouth and State of New Jersey, being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding; (for which blessing I thank God,) do hereby make, publish and declare this my last Will and Testament, in manner and form following, that is to say:-
FIRST. It is my Will and I do hereby order and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses, be duly paid and satisfied by my Executor hereinafter named, as soon as conveniently can be after my decease.
SECOND. I do hereby give, devise and bequeath to my wife, Caroline W. Taylor, and to my sister Mary Taylor, of Middletown Township, aforesaid, all of my personal property and real estate whatsoever and wheresoever for and during the term of their natural lives, and for and during the natural life of the survivor of them.
THIRD. I do hereby give, devise and bequeath all the estate and property in remainder consequent upon the termination of the life interest in my said personal property and real estate hereinbefore devised and bequeathed, to my nephew, Jacob Willse Jr., now of Jersey City, New Jersey, and to his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever.
FOURTH. I do hereby give and bequeath to my sister Catharine Van Tassel, wife of Howard Van Tassel of Bloomfield, New Jersey, and to her executors, administrators and assigns forever, the sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars, which I hereby make a charge upon the aforesaid Estate in remainder.
FIFTH. I do hereby give and bequeath to Minnie Carhart of Middletown aforesaid, now residing with me, and to her executors, administrators and assigns forever, the sum of Two Hundred Dollars, which I hereby make a charge upon the aforesaid Estate in remainder.
SIXTH. It is my Will and I do order and direct, that said sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars shall be paid by the said Jacob Willse, his heirs and assigns as follows; Five Hundred Dollars thereof two years after my decease, Five Hundred Dollars thereof, four years after my decease, and Five Hundred Dollars thereof six years after my decease.
SEVENTH. It is my will and I do order and direct that said sum of Two Hundred Dollars shall be paid by said Jacob Willse, his heirs and assigns, within one year after my decease.
LASTLY. I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my said wife, Caroline W. Taylor and my said Sister, Mary Taylor, Executrices and my said Nephew Jacob Willse Jr. Executor of this my last Will and Testament.

DIED OF APOPLEXY.
Mrs. Catherine Taylor Fatally Stricken on July 4th.
Mrs. Carolline Taylor, widow of Benjamin Taylor, died on Friday at her home near Middletown. On July 4th she was stricken with Apoplexy and she never rallied. Mrs. Taylor was 68 years old and was the youngest daughter of the late Cornelius Carhart of Keyport, where she was born. After her marriage to Mr. Taylor the couple went to live on a farm at Middletown. Mr. Taylor died about four years ago and his widow continued to live there with her sister-in-law, Miss. Mary Taylor. The funeral was held on Monday.
Caroline wrote her will on 25 Nov 1905. The following summary of the contents of her will were published 25 Sep 1907 in the Red Bank Register, Red Bank, Monmouth, New Jersey, United States (posted to Ancestry.com by Robert Malay):
Mrs. Catherine W. Taylor of Middletown made her will November 25th, 1905. She left $75 to Fair View cemetery, the income from which is to be used to keep her grave and her husband's grave in order. She left $50 to Green Grove Cemetery at Keyport, the income from which fund is to be perpetually used to keep in order the graves of her father and mother, Cornelius Carhart and Sarah Carhart. To her niece, Sarah J. Arrowsmith, Mrs. Taylor bequeathed $1,000 and also a bookcase, sideboard, some bedding, all her clothing and the silverware that had belonged to Mrs. Taylor's sister Sarah. Another niece, Laura Campbell, received $500 and a stand and shawl. Joseph M. Walling, a nephew gets $100, a parlor suit, a picture painted by Newell Carhart, two marble top stands and a dozen silver spoons. Macy Carhart, son of Mrs. Taylor's nephew, Newell Carhart, is bequeathed $150. Cornelius Carhart receives $150 and an old-fashioned mahogany bureau. Bessie Carhart gets $50 and a black walnut bedroom suit. Cornelius Cuttrell, a nephew, gets $250; and a niece, Melissa Stilwell, gets $100. Minnie Carhart gets $200, a gold watch and chain, a black walnut bedroom suit and bedding, and a sewing machine. All the rest of Mrs. Taylor's estate goes to her niece, Sarah J. Arrowsmith. The executors of the will are Joseph M. Walling and Macy Carhart.
