David died at the age of 90 on 13 Apr 1919 in Lakewood, Cuyahoga, Ohio, United States. Harriet died less than 2 weeks later at the age of 85 on 24 Apr 1919 in Lakewood, Cuyahoga, Ohio, United States. They were buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Berlin, Green Lake, Wisconsin, United States.
On 26 May 1919, their daughter, Gertrude Moore, petitioned the Court in Cook County, Illinois to admit the Will of her mother Harriet into Probate. The Will was originally petitioned in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, but since Harriet's residence was in Lakewood, Illinois, the Will was then petitioned to Cook County, Illinois. The Witness of the Will was deceased, so in order to prove the will, they tracked down someone who could verify the witness's signature in Traverse City, Michigan and her testimony was recorded. The will was thus proved and Gertrude was appointed Executrix of her mother's estate.
I, Harriet W. Carhart, of Riverside Illinois, being of full age and of sound mind and memory, do hereby make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
I give bequeath and devise all property, real and personal of which I may die possessed, to my daughter Gertrude C. Moore, her heirs and assigns forever.
I appoint my said daughter Gertrude C. Moore, Executrix of this will, and request that no sureties be required on her bond.
Witness my hand and seal this Seventh day of January A. D. 1910.
