Arthur Carhart of Keansburg Dropped Dead and Stephen E. Carhart of Port Monmouth Died of Consumption - Latter a Veteran.
Arthur Carhart of Keansburg dropped dead Saturday morning and his brother, Stephen E. Carhart of Port Monmouth, died Monday morning. Arthur Carhart leaves a wife and a son, Clyde Carhart. The funeral was held Monday at the house and the burial was at Keyport.
Stephen Carhart was 81 years old. Consumption, complicated with other ailments, was the cause of his death. He had been in poor health since April. He was born at Keyport and was a veteran of the civil war, he being a member of Company G of the 53d New York regiment. He was a member of Arrowsmith post and of the Belford Methodist church. For many years he was a pilot on a ferry boat, but for the past six years he had led a retired life.
Mr. Carhart leaves five children, Sylvanus Carhart and Mrs. Daniel Bennett of Belford, Mrs. J. N. Bade and Mrs. Lida Hyers of Port Monmouth, and Mrs. Joseph Carter of Red Bank. Mr. Carhart also leaves six brothers and two sisters. They are Rev. William Carhart of Hazlet, Henry Carhart, Mrs. Russell Voorhees and Mrs. Lorenzo Havens of Keyport, Edward, Reuben and Burnett Carhart of Riverton and Elmer Carhart of Keansburg. Mr. Carhart's wife, who was Miss Harriet Halsey of Keyport, died six years ago.
The funeral was hel this afternoon at the Belford Methodist church. Rev. Elijah Reid and Rev. C. S. C. Fees conducted the service. The burial was at Keyport.
Viola died at the age of 58 in 1924 in New Jersey, United States. They were buried in Green Grove Cemetery, Keyport, Monmouth, New Jersey, United States [Find A Grave Memorial #8199055 and #8199056].

Mrs. Viola Carhart of Keansburg made her will June 4th of this year. She left $100 to each of three children, Elsie May Covert, Viola Beaman and Clyde Carhart. To another son, Charles Vandeventer Carhart, a minor, she left all the cash left after the payment of the above legacies, and also all the mortgages held by Mrs. Carhart against various persons. Mrs. Carhart also requested in the will that the three other children, Elsie May Covert, Viola Beaman and Clyde Carhart, act jointly as the guardians of Charles Vendeventer Carhart, until he becomes of age. Elsie May Covert was made the executrix of the will. The witnesses were E. A. Gardner, Sr., and Jenks Beaman, both of Keansburg.
