In the Name of God Amen. I Caleb Kniffin of Rye in the County of Westchester and Province of New York Yeoman this seventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven-hundred and fifty five being sick and weak in Body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God therefore and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of God who gave it and for my Body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God And as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
Imprimis. It is my Will and I do order that in the first place all my Just debts and funeral charges be paid and Satisfyed.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my dearly and well beloved Wife Mary all the household goods that I shall die possessed of one riding Jade and three Cows to be at her choice out of such Creatures as I shall died possessed of five of the best of my hogs to her the said Mary and to her heirs and assigns. It is also my Will and I do order that my said Wife shall have the use of the House and Lott of Land adjoining thereto being twenty acres or better for and during the time she shall remain my Widow.
Item. I give and bequeath to my beloved son James Kniffen that Lott of Land known and called Samuel Lanes Lott being about fourteen acres (excepting five acres at the north west end) to him the said James Kniffin and to his heirs and assigns.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my beloved son John Kniffen Ten Acres of Land lying on the Cross Road north between Jonathan Kniffens Land and Joshua Brundiges Land to him the said John and to his heirs and assigns.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my beloved Son Caled Kniffen after my Wife's decease or in case shall think proper to marry again the house and Lott of Land adjoining thereto as above expressed to him the said Caleb and to his heirs and Assigns.
Item. I make ordain and appoint my beloved wife the aforesaid Mary and my trustly and well beloved Brother Amos Kniffen of Rye aforesaid Yeoman Joint Executors of this my Will in trust for the uses herein contained and I do hereby desire and it is my Will that my said Executors do in as short a time as they can conveniently after my decease sell and dispose of all my Real and Personal Estate (except such Lands and Legacies as above bequeathed) together with the five Acres being part of the fourteen Acres which I gave to my Son James Kniffen as above recited and with the monies arising from such sale or sales to pay and discharge all my Just debts and Funeral Charges and if any monies shall remain over and above that all such Sum and sums order and it is my Will that the same be put out to Interest by my Executors and be equally divided by them or either of them between my four daughters, Anna Sarah Mary and Esther Kniffin paid equal part both of principal and Interest to be paid to each and every of my aforesaid daughters as they and each of them shall arrive and come to the age of eighteen years and in case that either or any of my Sons should die before they come to the age of twenty one years or any of my said daughters before they should arrive at the age of eighteen that the said Share or shares shall by my Executors be equally divided between the Survivors of them both Sons and daughters to them and their heirs and assigns and further it is my will that ten Acres of my Land which is in Connecticut and is that part Joins to Daniel Tuckers be sold by my Executors and the other ten Acres be equally divided between my three Sons James John and Caleb to them their heirs and assigns and I do hereby authorize and impower my Executors and each of them to give such proper deeds or other writings as shall or may be necessary in the Selling and disposing of all or any part of my said Lands or personal Estate and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannull all and every other Former Testaments Wills Legacies and Executors by me in any ways before this time named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year above written. Caleb Kniffin (SS) Signed Sealed published pronounced and declared by the said Caleb Kniffin as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us the Subscribers, Thomas Howell, Rosanna (her mark) Purdy, John Hill. To whom concerned know Ye that I Caleb Kniffin (mark) the Subscriber to the annexed Will being this present day of April 13th 1755 yet alive though Sick and weak but of disposing mind and memory do hereby further declare that it is my will and intention that my wife Mary shall have more her side Saddle and a Bridle with the riding Jade given her in said Will and further it is my Will that my Executors shall pay unto my eldest Son James Kniffin out of my moveable Estate when he shall be twenty one years of age the Sum of ten shillings current money of New York which shall be in full Barr to his Claim or right as eldest Son or heir to my Estate. And further it is my Will and I hereby nominate and appoint my Brother Nathan Kniffen one of my Executors to be added and full power to Act as such with the other Executors named in my said Will. This done by me on mature consideration and allow and confirm the same to be as good to all intents and purposes as if the name and every part thereof had been at first incerted in the body of my said Will hereunto annexed Witness my hand and Seal the date above written. Be it remembered that on the thirty first day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty five personally came and appeared before me John Bartow Surrogate of the said County, Thomas Howel and Rosanna Purdy and John Carhart of the same County and the said Thomas and Rosanna being duly Sworn on their oath declared that they and each of them did see Caleb Kniffen sign and Seal the within written Instrument purporting to be the Will of the said Caleb Kniffen bearing date the seventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty five and heard him publish and declare the Same to be and contain his last Will and Testament that at the time thereof the said Caleb Kniffen was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of them the Deponents that their names subscribed to the said Will are of the proper hand writing and hand mark of the said Thomas and Rosanna which they subscribed as witnesses to the said Will in the Testators presence that they saw John Hill the other Witness to the said Will subscribe his name as a Witness thereto in the Testators presence and the said John Carhart and Rosanna further declared that they and each of them did see the said Caleb Kniffen sign and Seal the codicil annexed to the within written Instrument bearing date the 13th day of April 1755 and heard him publish and declare the Same as a codicil to be annexed as part of his said Will that at the time thereof the said Caleb was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of the said Deponents that their names subscribed to the same codicil are of their proper hands writing and hand mark of the said John Carhart & Rosanna Purdy which they subscribed as Witnesses to the same in the Testators presence that they saw Hannah Brown the other Witness to the said codicil subscribe her name as a Witness thereto in the Testators presence.

James DeLancey Esq. his majesty's Lieutenant Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the Province of New York and the Territories depending thereon in America. To all to whom these presents shall come or may concern greeing know Ye that at Westchester County on thirty first day of May last before John Bartow Esp. being thereunto delegated and appointed the last Will and Testament and Codicil of Caleb Kniffen deceased (copys whereof is hereunto annexed) was proved and now approved and allowed of by me. The said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death Goods Chattels and Credits within this Province by means whereof the proving and registering the said Will and Granting administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits and any way concerning his Will was Granted unto Amos Kniffen one of the Executors in the said Will named being first sworn well and faithfully to Administer the same and to make and Exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said Goods Chattels and Credits and also to render a Just and true account thereof when thereunto required. In Testimony whereof I have caused the Prerogative Seal of the Province of New York to be hereunto affixed the second day of June One Thousand seven hundred and fifty five.
