Ross Osgood Carhart, 69, of Cove Creek, passed away at Chandler Hospital AZ, on January 3, 1999. He was born in Englewood CO. to Phillip Everest Carhart and Grace Delphine (Blake) Carhart, on May 30, 1929. In 1937 the family moved to Cedar Point, in the Dove Creek area, where they farmed for many years. Ross attended high school in Monticello UT, where he worked at Jensen's Grocery for his room and board. He graduated in 1947. Then he attended Utah State University until 1950, when he married Cynthia M. Pretz, on December 30. He was called to service in February, 1951. After serving in Korea, was discharged in 1953. He then returned to Cedar Point where he continued farming. In the following years, besides farming, he was a truck driver, manager of several grain elevators and a flour mill, built a grain elevator at the farm, followed by building and ownership of Carhart Feed and Seed. During this time he was a director at the Dove Creek State Bank for seventeen years. Upon retirement he and his wife, Cindi, spent their winters in Sun Lakes AZ.
Ross is survived by his wife Cynthia; sons Daniel and wife Gail of Dublin CA, Matthew Carhart and wife Sarah; daughter, Marcie Stowe and husband Brad, both of Cedar Point; five grandchildren; Lisa and Alan Carhart, Kyle and Scott Carhart, and Ricky Stowe. One brother, David E. Carhart of Dove Creek; one sister Barbara C. Richards of Greeley CO; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Phyllis C. Davis, Dorothy C. House, Lucinda "Sugar" Carver, and brother John A. Carhart.
