Richard A. Carhart's Will. } Richard A. Carhart, dec'c, Nuncupative Will.
We, the undersigned, Dr. George T. Welch, Edwin H. Carhart and Selina Huylar, all of Raritan Township, in the County of Monmouth and State of New Jersey, hereby certify that on Friday the 30th day of September A. D. 1887, we were together in a room in the house of habitation or dwelling of Richard A. Carhart in the Town of Keyport in the County and States aforesaid at the time of the last sickness of said Richard A. Carhart who is now deceased; and while so present the said Richard A. Carhart published and declared his nuncupative last Will and Testament in the words following, which were addressed directly in the first instance to the said Dr. George T. Welch. I have been intending all my life to make a Will, But have put it off from time to time as people will in health, and now I feel too weak to go through the formalities. I now want, and therefore call upon you and my brother to witness what I am about to say, which is my will. The law I believe specifies, that a verbal will before two disinterested witnesses, will stand, so I wish to say before you two, that I want my wife to have everything as it stands, during her lifetime. We further certify that the brother above mentioned was the said Edwin H. Carhart. We further certify, that we were all of us present at the same time and heard the language used by said Richard A. Carhart, as above stated, and that the said Richard A. Carhart was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding. We further certify, that the said Richard A. Carhart died in his said residence, on Monday the 3rd day of October A.D. 1887. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands this 8th day of October A.D. 1887.
