MONGAUP VALLEY -- Ralph B. Carhart, 74, of Mongaup Valley, died Wednesday at home.
Mr. Carhart, a 53-year area resident, was born July 5, 1906, in New York City, to Ralph and Leanetta Bedele Carhart. A retired supervisor for the New York Telephone Co., he was married to the former Neva Thomas.
A member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, he was a member of the Cherokee Club of Bethel, Telephone Company Pioneers, the Monticello Elks Lodge, the Sullivan County Sportsmen's Federation and the Mongaup Masonic Lodge of Liberty.
Survivors include his wife; a step-son, Thomas D'Ari of Aspen, Colo.; a step-daughter, Mrs. John Lennon of Liberty; a brother, Bruce Carhart of Otisville; a great-niece; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Ramsay's Funeral Home, 66 St. Johns St., Monticello.
Mongaup Masonic Lodge services will be at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Bruce Rentz will officiate.
Burial will be in VanKeuren Cemetery, Swan Lake.

Neva Carhart of Liberty, a 50-year area resident, died Thursday, January 12, 1989, in Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, after a long illness. She was 76 year of age.
The daughter of the late Ambrose H. and Susie Ablett Thomas, she was born April 23, 192, in Iowa. She was the widow of Benjamin D'Ari and Ralph Carhart, and was a member of the Monticello Presbyterian Church and its Ladies Aid Society.
She is survived by a son, A. Thomas D'Ari of Aspen, Colo.; a daughter, Susanne Lennon of Liberty; and three grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday at the Monticello Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Charles Woodman officiating.
Burial was made in the Rock Ridge Cemetery, Monticello.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Monticello Presbyterian Church.
Funeral arrangements were made by Ramsay's Funeral Home in Monticello.
