Mr. John K. Carhart died very suddenly at his residence at Brown's Point Wed. evening. Mr. Carhart had been in apparently good health as usual and had just returned from the boat where he had been to meet his granddaughter. On arriving home he sat down and complained of a pain in his side and almost immediately expired. The cause of his death was heart trouble. He was born near Centreville 82 years ago. He married twice, his first wife being a Miss Smith, by whom he had 3 sons, John, Thomas and Charles, all living. During his first wife's life he resided in New York City. In 1846 he returned to New Jersey and married Miss Ann Eliza Carter, who survives him. Eight children by the second wife also survive him. They are J. Philander and Bishop, of Keyport; Mrs. Edward Huylar and Mrs. Bloomfield Cook of Eatontown; Mrs. David Perry, Mrs. George S. Armstrong, Mrs. Orville T. Conover and Ralph Carhart of New York city. Two brothers, Richard, of New York City, Gershom who lives in this town and two half sisters, Mrs. Mary Eliza Henry of Belford, Mrs. Amanda Seeley, of Port Monmouth and one half brother, Wesley Carhart of Mechanicsville, are the remaining members of Mr. Carhart's family. Mr. Carhart was a shoemaker by trade. He lived in Keyport 25 years and had served as overseer of the poor in the township for 6 years. Funeral Sund. afternoon from the house. Interment in Green Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Eliza Carhart of Keyport Dies at Brooklyn at Age of 91 Years.
Mrs. Eliza Carhart, widow of John K. Carhrat and a life long resident of Keyport, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mattie Conover of Brooklyn, on Sunday at the age of 91 years. Mrs. Carhart enjoyed good health until last August and since that time had been confined to her bed. She leaves six children, Mrs. Conover, Mrs. Kate Huylar of Philadelphia, Ralph Carhart of Otisville, New York, Mrs. Florence Perry of Nyack, Mrs. Alida Cook of Brooklyn and Bishop Carhart of Keyport. Mrs. Walter VanKeuren and Mrs. Howard Higginson of Red Bank are granddaughers of Mrs. Carhart.
